About Study Al-Islam

.......This is the book: in it guidance, without doubt, for those who fear Allah; who believe in the unseen, who are steadfast in prayer, who spend out of what we have given them, who believe in the revelations sent to you and sent before your time, and have the assurance of the hereafter. They are on true guidance, from their Lord, and it is those who will prosper.
— Al-Qur'an -Sura 2.2-5

Study Al-Islam program began in 2014 during the holy month of Ramadan. The program encourages the understanding and the application of the Qur'an as the primary source for making daily decisions in our personal, family and community life. We believe that the Qur'an is the revealed word of G-D. We believe that Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) embodies the Qur'an and is a mercy to all mankind. We believe that the revelations of Qur'an preserve the inspired teachings of all previous Prophets before Muhammed (PBUH).

Study Al-Islam is a 30-minute series of lectures that are offered in two parts, Ramadan and Life Topics. The caller conveniently dials in from any location from around the world at a fixed Eastern Standard Time. The lectures are offered by respected and learned Speakers. The Speakers explain concepts in the Qur'an, traditions of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), and the Arabic language, according to the insightful, scriptural, and contemporary language of Imam W.D. Mohammed (raa). Study Al-Islam speaks to the seeker of knowledge and the sincere at heart.

The Study Al-Islam website is dedicated to celebrating the individual achievements of our collective community. The information on the website is to promote and bridge public service and partnerships between people of like-minds and to strengthen our wholesome life.

The ability to realize and achieve our greatest potential depends upon the threads of information that we use to weave together our spiritual and emotional development.   These decisions influence our success in this life and the hereafter.

Remember clever enemies do more than study our weaknesses. Clever enemies also target the nature of our passion and nervous systems and make our rage and our desperation their most practical weapon in their hands against us.
— Imam W.D. Mohammed (raa)

Fitrah Muhammad

Fitrah Muhammad believes that all people are gifted by The Creator with purpose and have the right to the pursuit of life, liberties and happiness. At an early age of 15, she accepted the leadership of the late Honorable Elijah Muhammad (ra) and continued her journey for knowledge as a student of the late Imam W.D. Mohammed (ra)—Muslim-American Spokesperson for Humanity. She is an international traveler who works to build partnerships and collaborations through dialogue, understanding, commonality, and respect for humanity.  She is the Executive Producer of “Study Al-Islam," an intensive educational program that advances knowledge of the Qur’an, life examples of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the tafsir of Imam W.D. Mohammed (ra); and the ‘brainchild’ of the historical conference titled “The Academic Examination of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s Influence on the Ministry of Imam W. D. Mohammed” held at Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California.

Fitrah has extensive experience working with high-profile leaders, interfaith organizations, embassy personnel, the international community, and federal/state government.

Ms. Muhammad worked closely with the White House, Faith Based Neighborhood Partnership Initiative and had the honor of attending a White House Iftar as an invited guest by President Barack Obama.

Presently, she works in Washington, D.C. as the International Engagement and Project Development Officer for Imam Talib Shareef, President of Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque—the first Mosque to be built from the ground up by descendants of enslaved people.

At Masjid Muhammad, Fitrah is the first point of contact for the media.  She represents the Office of the Imam at planning meetings with, but not limited to: the US State Department to plan/host visiting international delegations, the Muslim Jewish Advisory Council on civic congressional engagement, The Focolara National leadership, The National Cathedral, The Global Peace Foundation, Faith-based local and national organizations, and The FBI Washington Field Office, where she attended and graduated in 2017 from the FBI Citizens’ Academy to help improve community relations and increase diversity representation.  Her duties also include planning and coordinating Imam Talib’s major speaking engagements at historic events such as: the King of Morocco’s highest Royal Medal and honor for outstanding interfaith leadership, the 1st historic Islamic congregational prayer at the Washington National Cathedral, the World Alliance of Religions for Peace in Seoul Korea, the Global Peace Conventions in South America and N. Ireland, the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King’s March on Washington, the former President George H.W. Bush’s Points of Light Conference’s Faith Summit, the prayer service at an opening session of the U.S. Congress, the Abuja Peace Declaration organized by the International Global Peace Foundation, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Nigeria and an interfaith delegation to Italy to attend a meeting with the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue.  She assisted in the planning of the South African Embassy celebration for the unveiling of the Nelson Mandela’s statue in the US.

She developed and coordinated the 1st Interfaith Comedy Show, the 1st community Chile Cook-Off—which featured special guest Former World Boxing Champion, Larry Holmes, and planned a successful inter-generational Umrah to Mecca. She is an adhoc member of the Masjid Shura Board of Directors and an active member of the real-estate development team, charged with two major projects; renovating and expanding Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque, and building commercial/mix-housing.

In professional sports and entertainment, Fitrah has over 35 years of experience in major events planning and project management.  She worked closely with the late Herbert (Jabir) Muhammad (ra), Manager of Muhammad Ali, and Brother of Imam W.D. Mohammed (ra).  She assisted world-renowned boxing promoter, Murad Muhammad during his reign over professional fights, which aired on all major networks. She successfully planned the historic travel to Cuba and concert for Kool & the Gang, and worked as Director of Community Outreach and Events Manger at the Sarah Vaughan Performance Center, Newark NJ.

Read What Others Say about Fitrah Muhammad:

“Fitrah not only coordinates and attends mid/high-level meetings with me but often as my representative and is also accepted as a participant based on her own merits. This includes our involvement in global interfaith and peace-building which often involves dignitaries like present/former heads-of-state, where she again is not only in the forefront coordinating and planning logistics but is also an important contributor in these arenas”. Imam Talib Shareef, President of Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque

“I worked with Fitrah Muhammad, in that sense I was truly blessed.  Compared to the competition, I found Fitrah to be the absolute best.  While paying scrupulous detail to attention she never got stuck in the weeds, whenever she gave advice, I found wise words I could surely heed.
Some people can be overbearing, some people you want out of your face, As for Fitrah Muhammad, she combines professionalism with grace.  So to describe working with Fitrah Muhammad, I would say the situation was surely win-win, And if afforded the opportunity... I would work with Fitrah Muhammad again!”  Imam Zaid Shakir, Co-founder of  Zaytuna College

“I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Fithra Muhammad in different situations for approximately eight years. During that time, I’ve served with her on panels, committees and in discussions that have considered very serious social and societal issues that impact communities both domestically as well as internationally. I’ve found her to be thoughtful while drawing from a vast experience of having engaged very challenging societal concerns throughout her life of commitment for the well being of others. However, while her life experience is noteworthy and even can be seen as exceptional, in my estimation – her word of commitment is even more noteworthy. I have seen her consistently give her word of commitment and consistently follow through on the fulfillment of that commitment. To this, I applaud her as an individual of distinction”.  Alan J. Inman, Executive Board Member & Senior Advisor; Global Peace Foundation

“She has a deep understanding of both her own community’s needs and appreciating the needs of others. She has been instrumental in helping Muslim leadership to navigate their way in interfaith understanding in a diversity of cultural backgrounds”. Imam Mohamed Magid, Executive Imam, All Dulles Area Muslim Society

“She has a broad network of talented people who trust her and respond to her requests. She is a highly effective event organizer, whose strengths lie in her ability to build relationships between institutions to further mutual goals and objectives. She possesses the exceptional communication and public relations skills that are required to perform this important work". Dr. Myers, President of Black Women 4 Positive Change

“During Ms. Muhammad’s work at the Nation’s Mosque, her professionalism has contributed to the growth of our Imam’s local and worldly recognitions. Her efforts have increased the Nation’s Mosque approval rating with the District and Federal Government as well as many private and International communities. She is dedicated and full of creative ideas, which has helped elevate the status of the Mosque”. Monica Saleem, Masjid Muhammad Board & Community Member

“We coordinated a delegation of Imams and Muslim Representatives to visit and meet Vatican Officials and other Christian Leaders in Rome, Assisi, and Loppianno near Florence. Fitrah was very professional and attentive to detail. She communicates very well and is sensitive to people’s needs. She is as comfortable and professional with dignitaries as she is with ordinary individuals”. Michael Murray, Member of the Focolare Movement, Roman Catholic Church

“Fitrah presented opportunities that were historic and had a global impact. In December 2009, Fitrah organized a free open air concert to thousands of Cuban fans. Kool & The Gang were the first American musicians to receive permission to perform on this communist-run island since President Barack Obama came to power. After the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Fitrah organized a delegation which included one of the founding members and management of Kool & The Gang to assess the scope of work needed to rebuild the city of Petit-Goave. Recently, Fitrah coordinated the induction of a Kool & The Gang exhibit in the Smithsonian African-American Museum in DC”. Dennis Thomas, Original Member

“In all of these interactions it has been a pleasure to collaborate with her. She is thoughtful, well organized, and attentive to detail. Ms. Muhammad has spoken in various settings where I have been present including at the Board of the Directors of the IFC, so I can also testify that she is very skilled at oral presentations and clearly also in written communication as well. Since the IFC is a very diverse interfaith organization I can also affirm that she has strong outreach experience in this area of interfaith work. She is both a good team player and a leader with especially strong skills in the area of programming”. Rabbi Gerald Serotta, Executive Director, Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington

“Ms. Muhammad is a highly effective event organizer, whose strengths lie in her ability to build relationships between institutions to further mutual goals and objectives. She possesses the exceptional communication and public relations skills that are required to perform this important work”.
