President, Greene Street Communications
Jamilah Fraser, President of Greene Street Communications, LLC brings more than 20 years of communications experience to the field of Communications and Public Relations. She began her career in local television stations in South Carolina and Missouri, earning two local Emmy’s for her collaborative efforts in broadcasting. In 2004, she assumed the role of Director of Programming at nationally available, Bridges TV, where she helped get the network up and running. There, she created the pilot for two original series that were sold at MIPTV in Cannes, France. She also served as a featured speaker at the 2004 National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) conference.
In 2005, Jamilah answered the call after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast and joined the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). There, she used her talents to assist the tens of thousands of victims left in the aftermath of the storm, reporting information broadcast through FEMA’s Recovery Channel. Since Katrina, Jamilah has worn many hats at the agency, including lead External Affairs Officer, Assistant External Affairs Officer, Research and Writing Lead, Lead Strategic Communications Specialist, Lead National Event Manager and Broadcast Specialist among many others, on over 30 national disasters.
During her time with FEMA, Jamilah produced several national hurricane preparedness public service announcements and an instructional video for children on disaster preparedness. She has traveled the country, providing much-needed disaster preparedness and recovery information to communities and media outlets, helping to give victims a lifeline of hope. She was on the ground, using her skills to assist victims of the 2007 wildfires that devastated parts of California, the 2008 floods that ravaged much of the Midwest and Hurricane Ike, one of the costliest storms to ever touchdown in the United States, in that same year. She was recognized by Governor of Indiana for her exemplary External Affairs skills. Additionally, she was named the first lead Virtual External Affairs Officer for FEMA, her efforts on that project was documented in a FEMA white paper and she was recognized by the entire agency.
In 2011, she was named one of the youngest head of communications for The School District of Philadelphia. He career continued to gain momentum when Fraser was recruited then appointed as the Chief Information Officer for Fresno Unified School District in Fresno, California. Her work in Fresno helped her to receive national acclaim in her field so much so, that she became the recipient of the coveted Network Journal’s 40 under 40 award. In 2013, Fraser was tapped to become the Assistant Vice President of Communications and Marketing for one of the largest senior colleges in the City of New York college system.
Jamilah is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English.
